The production of yarn and clothing by enterprises above designated size decreased by 1.3% and 3.2% respectively year-on-year, while the production of fabric and chemical fibers increased by 2.5% and 2.7% respectively year-on-year.
The market demand is steadily increasing, and retail consumption is maintaining growth. From January to May, the total retail sales of consumer goods for units above designated size in China reached 7385.8 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.0%. Among them, the retail sales of clothing, shoes, hats, and needle textiles for units above designated size increased by 2.0% year-on-year, while the retail sales of online wearable physical goods increased by 9.0% year-on-year.
The international market is basically stable, and the foreign trade situation has improved. From January to May, China's cumulative exports of textiles and clothing reached 115.8 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 1.4%. In May, textile and clothing exports to the world reached 26.1 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 4.7%.
